🙂 Katy ISD & HLS&R band together 🤗

As you may be aware, the City of Houston & its health department have directed the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLS&R) to close in the interest of public health. This includes the removal of all competition animals from the event site at Reliant Park.

Understanding that thousands of participants from across the country participate in this annual event & had made plans to house their animals at the event site, the Rodeo has reached out to local partners like Katy ISD, to assist with accommodating participants’ animals by providing barn shelter overnight.

Katy ISD is fortunate to own and operate one of the state’s most comprehensive agricultural & sciences centers, which is used to provide instruction to the District’s thousands of career & technical, & FFA students who comprise one of the largest chapters in TX. Wednesday evening they opened their doors to all Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo participants who are in need of housing for their competition animals. They opened barn numbers 1 through 7. The District will be providing updated information to Rodeo participants regarding barn availability throughout the process. Katy ISD personnel, including teachers, grounds staff and law enforcement, will be on site to greet and assist animal guests.

The safety and well-being of our community and guests will be our top priority as we manage the influx of foot and vehicle traffic in the area. Please join us in welcoming the HLS&R animals to our Agricultural Sciences Center site.
